About Us

Openvi Foundation is an independent, community-driven organization dedicated to maintaining and evolving open source UI tooling for the Vue ecosystem. We are not affiliated with the PrimeVue team or Primetek.

Hey Vue community,

We are long-time PrimeVue users who believe a great UI component library should stay free, open, and community run. PrimeVue was archived after its v4.5.5 release in April 2026 and development moved on elsewhere. Rather than watch one of the most widely adopted Vue component libraries go unmaintained, we picked it up.

OpenVue is our continuation of PrimeVue v4, the last fully open source line, with more than 80 accessible and themeable components. It is MIT licensed, and it stays that way.

Let's keep Vue open together.
— Openvi Foundation

We used PrimeVue daily for years, across projects big and small. It was one of the best UI libraries in the Vue ecosystem, and we did not want to see it stall behind a closed license. Thousands of teams still have it in their dependency tree, and every one of them deserves a version that keeps getting security fixes, Vue compatibility updates, and accessibility work.

MIT, permanently

Every package we publish is MIT licensed. A relicense upstream cannot reach them.

A stack we control

Components, theming engine and icons are all maintained in the open by the same foundation.

Community run

Decisions happen in public, on the issue tracker and in discussions, not behind a company roadmap.

We are early, and we are in this for the long run. If you want to help, star the repo, join the discussion, or tell someone who still ships with PrimeVue.
